Badger Beer

It was deep in Dorset’s rolling hills and patchwork fields, in 1777, that local farmer Charles Hall brewed our first beer. A union of the Hall & Woodhouse families soon followed and the story of Badger beer had begun.

To create the distinctive character of our delicious Badger beers, we combine hops and malted barley with pure spring water which has been filtered naturally through the Cretaceous chalk downs of Dorset. Our comprehensive range of cask and bottled beers, all with distinctive characters, are available throughout the year, although our offering does vary seasonally.

Cider

How we love a good cider; it’s the perfect refreshment – crisp and sweet yet tantalisingly tangy.  Cider has a long history, with the Romans getting their first taste of the appley brew during their invasion of Britain.  Fast forward to the 18th Century and farm labourers were paid by the pint!  Below are just a few of our delicious ciders, we’ve not list our entire range though, so make sure pop in to see our latest selection.

Lager

Who knows the difference between ale and lager?  Well it all comes down to the yeast and brewing temperature (lagers are brewed using a process of cool fermentation and maturation), we won’t go into all the details here, but suffice to say our range of lagers below are all celebrated for their crisp and refreshing finish.

Gin

Quintessentially English and brimming with style, we love gin for its complex yet delicate labyrinth of flavours. It gets its aromatic notes from the juniper berries, as well as the additional botanicals selected by the distiller, with each distiller creating their own unique concoction. Below is a selection of our favourite gins, handpicked for you to enjoy!

Vodka

Despite packing a powerful punch, the word ‘vodka’ comes from the Slavic word ‘voda’, meaning water. Water it isn’t, but it does make the perfect accompaniment for one of our delicious tonics.

Wine

Our eclectic wine list contains all of your favourites from around the world, from refreshing whites featuring  Chenin Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Picpoul de Pinet and Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc grape varieties, to reds packed with fruit flavours and featuring Shiraz, Merlot, Rioja and Malbec grapes. And if that’s enough our rosé and sparkling wines and Champagnes are ideal for those long summer evenings watching the World go by.

Whisk(e)y

You’ll have noticed there are two spellings for this superior spirit – ‘whiskey’ and ‘whisky’. Despite there being just one letter between them, the difference is significant. Get it wrong, and the country of origin will become rather tetchy. To put it simply, ‘whiskey’ comes from Ireland and America, whilst ‘whisky’ comes from Scotland.

Rum

If rum makes you conjure up images of pirates and sailors brandishing wooden barrels and singing “yo, ho, ho and a bottle of rum!” you’re not far wrong. That’s because as a Caribbean commodity we’ve been shipping this sugary spirit to English shores since the 17th Century. Here’s our pick of some of the tastiest rums going.

You don’t always fancy something alcoholic, so for those days when you want something soft we’ve put together a delicious assortment of our favourite soft drinks for you to enjoy.

Colourful Coffee

Our delicious ‘Rocket Espresso’ comes from our friends at Extract Coffee Roasters and is the perfect combination of great coffee and good ethics. The special blend comprises 100% Arabica coffee beans from a single farm in Colombia and a co-operative project in Peru, which works to directly benefit the families and communities involved. The result of this is a naturally sweet and full-bodied coffee with notes of chocolate and caramel to finish.
